Welcome to Duseri Dharkan, the Second Heartbeat of the Pakistani, Film, Media and Arts Festival! Building on the huge success of Pehlee Dharkan (First Heartbeat),which was held in 2005-6, during the course of the year, Heer Productions hasbeen proud to present an eclectic selection of feature films, documentaries, shorts and panel discussions to coincide with the 60th anniversary of Independence and Partition. This month is the climax! The Festival opens with the blockbuster, hot off the camera, In the Name of God (Khuda Kay Liye), followed by Mistaken, the fi rst-ever Scottish Asian-produced feature fi lm. Both movies deal with the
human consequences of contemporary global politics, terrorism and war, the
fi rst, in Lahore, the second, in Glasgow.
Police raid a Glaswegian Asian household. The son, Ali is arrested on suspicion of terrorism. Between cops, hacks, mullahs and militants, the Malik family’s world descends into nightmare.
Yet not everybody is an enemy. Fast-paced, topical and thought-provoking, this is the first-ever feature film made by the South Asian diaspora in Scotland. A night of darkness. For Film trailer check:
